Sixth week already?!
Like the title says, I am now in the 6th week of the Surgery Posting. My friends in the O&G posting have 1 week till their exam (wishing them all the best!). I'm not going to say I mastered anything in particular, but I can say that I know a lot more about surgery and it's in-and-outs than when I first came.
Besides our usual bed-side teachings, out-patient clinic sessions, operation theatre observations (my fav!), we also have PBLs and Seminars (which I explained a few posts ago), and I won't say it's superbly hectic, but it ain't no Caribbean cruise either.
Okay, to more interesting topics. I don't think you're here to read about my curriculum anyway.
Apparently some drama has been surfacing around me lately. In my batch alone there's a story of a break-up and hook-up (we're all used to that, aren't we?), rumours circling my friend about a hook-up (which is absolutely not true because she is a loyal girlfriend to her dear BF in KL) and most amusing so far would be my friend's 'change in target' - she used to target a particular group of men of a certain occupation (will not name what, or else will be too obvious), and now she's targeting doctors.
Not that there's anything wrong with that; doctors usually marry doctors, after all. It's just that her story with this intern...let's name him Dr. T. So Dr. T is friendly towards her and she doesn't know how to react and her mom and senior tells her to go ahead and flirt since she's not bound to anyone. Luckily for her she's attractive (in a very outspoken way) so I guess flirting isn't a problem for her. Kekeke.
So, my car came last Friday. My state-of-the-art handphone DIED on me (low batteries) and my mom actually called Nadz to get in touch with me. So my dad told me the guys are "here in Sibu with the car" and I'm like 'Damn, I'm not mentally prepared for this!' but luckily the uncle drove me and Nadz back to ILF, and I was like 'Now that the car's here I have to drive it.'
Farahin and the other girls wanted to go out the next day to the supermarket, so I offered to take them there. For the first time driving after so long (nearly a year, me thinks) I actually think I did pretty well (no injuries, scratches, accidents) - save the parking and the U-turn parts. I'm not a guy, and I'll need practice before I'm competent at this driving thing. Mama adds 'encouragement' in the form of, "You have to drive the car once every 2-3 days...otherwise need to jumpstart". Alamak! I don't want to be going to Megat or the other boys and going "Can you help me jumpstart my car?"
Driving at night is a rather scary experience, as I found out just now, because everything so dark and you have to add 'turning on the headlights' as part of the 'getting in the car' regime and 'turning off the headlights' as a part of the 'getting out of the car' regime. I already have a gazillion locks to lock/unlock and screens to put up, radio to take in/out and straightening the tyres... =_= hopefully continuously doing this would make it a habit.
Right now I'm attempting to juggle many things - a weekly update on my ongoing fanfic, writing for extra fanfics, studying abdominal, thyroid, and hernias, going to the hospital and hanging out with my friends. Hopefully I can find a balance for all of this.
